  Agenda *Attendees will learn about corrosion in drinking water systems; Heavy metal leaching in consumer’s homes, such as lead and copper. *We will discuss the lead poisoning which happened in Flint, Michigan and ways we can avoid such a tragedy from happening in our water systems. *Your source water may be aggressive, or maybe it is a distribution problem. We will look at corrosion from source to the tap of your consumers. *The chemistry behind corrosive water is an important factor for determining treatment options and maintenance procedures. *Attendees will review the lead and copper rule, and how it affects your water system. *Water quality parameter sampling for pH – Hardness- Alkalinity- TDS – Temperature *We will look at treatment options such as pH adjustment, Orthophosphates, lime contactors and sequestering agents. *Corrosion control treatment, maintenance, reporting and safety will be discussed.

Certificates are handed out at the end of each class. It is the responsibility of the operator to maintain their record keeping for license renewal. If a certificate is to be replaced there is an administrative fee of $15 for members for the first certificate, $5 for each additional certificate, and $25 for non-members for the first certificate, $10 for each additional certificate.

Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel, please contact GSRWA in writing at least three business days prior to the day of the course, or be charged a $30 late cancellation fee. If you do not attend the course and do not contact GSRWA, you will be charged a “No Show” fee equal to the original course registration fee. The No Show fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Written refunds/credits will be considered for special circumstances provided that the request is received within two weeks of the training date.
