To encourage communities to build greater resilience, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Drinking Water and Groundwater Bureau, the Granite State Rural Water Association and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency are hosting Flood Resilience: Training for Water and Wastewater Utilities, a free training designed for the water sector in New Hampshire. This one-day training will provide guidance and information for drinking water and wastewater utilities to enhance their ability to withstand a flooding event, minimize damage, and rapidly recover from disruptions to service. Participants will learn how to use the U.S. EPA tool Flood Resilience: A Basic Guide for Water and Wastewater Utilities (Flood Resilience Guide). Participants will complete an example flood assessment using the Guide that also enables them to repeat the assessment at their facility. As part of completing an example flood assessment, participants will learn how to identify mitigation measures to effectively protect their utility from flooding and learn about funding options for implementation of mitigation projects.
