Agenda The training session will focus on the nature of groundwater resources and related water quality issues, how wells are used to develop them as a source of drinking water, types of wells and how they are constructed, yield testing, and pump and treatment equipment selection and installation. New Hampshire regulatory requirements and concerns will be discussed, along with the corresponding sequencing and timeframe associated with the permitting of a new well. The presentation will look at typical water quality concerns associated with groundwater supplies, including those specific to New Hampshire, and typical methods of treatment to comply with the state’s drinking water standards. Examples of the currently accepted and typical approaches to developing and permitting groundwater supplies from the two main categories of aquifers in New Hampshire, sand and gravel (unconsolidated), and bedrock, will be presented and discussed, along with life-cycle costs and maintenance aspects of the respective systems.
