GSRWA formed in 2005, is a non-profit organization that is governed by a membership-elected board of directors. GSRWA’s administrative office is located in the town of Walpole, NH with the field staff based across the state. GSRWA is a state affiliate of the National Rural Water Association, which was formed in 1976 and is headquartered in Duncan, Oklahoma
GSRWA provides training and technical assistance to water and wastewater systems throughout the state. The staff works directly with systems to solve operational, regulatory, administrative and financial challenges faced by water systems. Granite State Rural Water Association works independently of state agencies; however we do work closely with NH Department of Environmental Services, USDA Rural Development, the Environmental Protection Agency, and other agencies that provide help in solving rural water problems.
Funding for GSRWA’s field technicians comes from US EPA, and USDA Rural Development in the form of grants and contracts. These funds enable Granite State Rural Water to provide professionals who assist New Hampshire’s water and wastewater systems with operation and maintenance, source water protection, on-site training and technical assistance.
To help offset costs in areas that government funding will not provide for, such as our newsletter, marketing, purchase of certain equipment and legislative work; we invite you to become a member of Granite State Rural Water Association. Any community, individual, business or public entity may become a member by paying a membership fee. This is not a prerequisite for our services. The dues received help us to strengthen and grow so our services can be expanded.
